The Research laboratories, are
hosted in a new separate building, completed in 2007, facing the Clinical Institute. The
laboratories are located at the second and third floor of the Research Institute and develop
in an area of 5000 m
2. The laboratories are fully equipped to perform up-todate basic and clinical research in
cellular and molecular biology, genetics, imaging and informatics.
The laboratories are fully equipped and set-up to provide all necessary know-how, expertise
and technologies for experimentation in various fields of cellular and molecular biology.
Humanitas facilities include:
flow cytometry and FACS sorting (Achille Anselmo), microscopy and imaging (Andrea Doni), BL3 unit,
radioactive laboratories, bioinformatics core (Luca Zammataro) and access to Affymetrix.
Humanitas now hosts a small biotech company,
Intercept, whose activity is directed by a well-known immunologist, Luciano
Adorini. Immunology and gastroenterology are keywords of the mission of Intercept.
The Research staff at June 2008 counts around 100 scientists, with 12 group leaders, some of
which with more than 20 year experience in the field of scientific research.
