Massimo Locati is Associate Professor in Pathology and Immunology and chief of the
Laboratory of Leukocyte Biology at the Department of Translational Medicine of the University of
Milan Faculty of Medicine, located in the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Milan. In the past he has
contributed to the identification of new chemokines and chemokine receptors, to the definition of
chemokine receptors signalling and its role in HIV-1 infection, to the analysis of the biological
role of chemokines in human and experimental pathology, with particular attention to their
regulation during inflammatory responses. Present interests are represented by the identification
and biological characterization of chemokine decoy receptors, the study of phagocyte activation
processes by means of transcriptional profile analysis, and the role of microRNA in
inflammation.
On these topics he is author of 86 peer-reviewed publications, with a total Impact Factor
