Translational DiagnosticsP.I.: Alessandro Montanelli, MD
The Clinical Laboratory Investigations collaborates with hospital Units to implement research projects developed in the specialistic clinical disciplines of the Institute. It has also developed research projects, strictly related to clinical pathology, in its different specialistic sections. In Biochemical Chemistry there are researches about: laboratory evaluation of renal function (enzymatic creatinine, cystatin C, microalbuminuria); study of prolactin isoforms; optimization of procedures for intrasurgical determination of patathormone; evaluation of the intestinal permeability; PTX3 diagnostic appropriateness in acute and chronic diseases. In Microbiology: surveys on antimicrobial properties of derivatized textile materials (in collaboration with Istituto Ronzoni and Politecnico of Milan). In Molecular Biology: analysis of the frequency of gene HFE mutations in subjects with primary headache; analysis on lactase gene mutation. In Cytogenetics: projects applying FISH (Fluorescence In situ Hybridization) in oncological field, particularly in solid tumors, both in differential diagnostic field and in therapeutic one (Targeted Therapy). |
