Patients suffering for myocardial ischemia in its various clinical
presentations such as angina pectoris or myocardial infarction are mainly referred to
Interventional Haemodynamics and Cardiology Unit.
Patients undergo coronarography, left ventriculography and to left
cardiac catheterisation in order to assess the indication to myocardial revascularization through
percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) usually performed in the same session or in
case PTCA is not indicated through by-pass surgery.
The Unit is is fully equipped with the most modern devices
(Rotablator, atherectomy devices, intracoronary echograph) and with last generation coronary stents
in order to treat any coronary lesion.
The Unit guarantees emergency/urgent interventions in all cases when
needed.
The interventional cardiology is also able to perform intervention in
cases of other cardiac diseases such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defects or patient
foramen ovale. In these cases a device (like little umbrella) are introduced in the heart to close
these defects avoiding surgical repair.
Finally percutaneans aortic and pulmonary valves replacement can be
performed in cases wich surgically intervention is at hight risk. |
